COLUMBUS, Ohio – After an eventful year during which the organization changed leadership and assisted its member libraries as they dealt with unprecedented COVID-19 changes, OhioLINK announces a reorganization that promotes three long-time staff to leadership. Judy Cobb, Joanna Voss, and Theda Schwing will move into newly created Associate Director roles.

Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Randy Gardner has named Amy Pawlowski executive director of OhioLINK, Ohio’s academic library consortium, effective immediately. Pawlowski joined OhioLINK in 2013 as deputy director for operations and e-licensing. She has served in an interim capacity since February.

“Amy has proven her leadership through this challenging pandemic environment,” said Chancellor Gardner. “Her valuable expertise in libraries and technology will ensure that OhioLINK continues to find innovative ways to make higher education more accessible and more affordable for Ohio’s students.”

Nichole Frederick, Systems Librarian, is the most recent addition to the OhioLINK team. Nichole received her degree from Ohio State, and her Masters of Library Information Sciences from Kent State. Before joining OhioLINK, Nichole worked for the Ohio State University libraries.

OhioLINK recently spoke with Nichole about her professional responsibilities as well as her favorite books, her many hobbies and how she enjoys spending her free time.

Where did you grow up?

COLUMBUS, Ohio (May 11, 2017) – OhioLINK is pleased to welcome a new member to its team. Nichole Frederick joined OhioLINK on May 1, 2017 as the OhioLINK systems librarian.

In this role, Frederick will work closely with OhioLINK’s coordinator of catalogs, with personnel from OH-TECH, and with OhioLINK member institutions to assist in planning, implementing, and managing central library catalog functions. She will provide support for OhioLINK’s library catalogs and the integration of local systems; the print lending system; and the OhioLINK link resolver and associated services.

Amy Pawlowski is OhioLINK’s deputy director and eResources licensing coordinator, though she claims she likes to think of herself as OhioLINK’s .exe file. Amy holds two degrees in music performance, which are a unique contrast to her master’s degree in library information science from Kent State University.

Amy came to OhioLINK from the Cleveland Public Library (CPL), where she was the web applications manager and oversaw projects and eResources for CPL and the CLEVNET consortium.

Erin Kilkenny, OhioLINK’s cataloging assistant, earned her undergraduate degree in art history & visual culture from Denison University and is currently working on a Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University. Erin came to OhioLINK from Southwest Public Libraries, where she was an adult reference assistant.

Stefanie Wolf Cunningham, OhioLINK’s executive assistant, earned her bachelor’s degree from Capital University where she majored in English. In addition to her time at Capital, she spent two years studying abroad at the Center for International Education in Moscow.

Cunningham, who worked as a library shelver throughout college, also has worked in University Press publishing. Before joining OhioLINK, she was a library specialist at Columbus State Community College and a collections and exhibitions intern at the Columbus Museum of Art.

Jennie Thomas, OhioLINK’s Electronic Serials Clerk, earned her bachelor’s degree from Otterbein University where she double majored in history and government, and education – and her master’s in library science from Kent State University.

Jennie, who came out of retirement to join OhioLINK, previously worked as a public services librarian at The Athenaeum of Ohio, a Catholic seminary in Cincinnati. She also held two positions at the Environmental Protection Agency in Cincinnati as its serials librarian and interlibrary loan librarian.

Jennie recently talked to OhioLINK about the changes she’s witnessed in librarianship, her current library position, and her joys of being a grandmother.

Theda Schwing, OhioLINK’s Catalog Coordinator, earned her bachelor’s degree in integrated mathematics education from Miami University and her master’s in library science from Kent State University.

Most recently she was the Technical Services Librarian at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, where she worked closely on her library’s migration to Sierra and their implementation of the EBSCO Discovery Service. Theda, who comes from a family of librarians, is following in their footsteps.
