Emily Flynn is the Metadata and ETD Coordinator at OhioLINK. She manages the cataloging of consortial e-resources, troubleshoots e-book metadata and access issues, manages the Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) Center for more than 30 member institutions and works closely with the OH-TECH developers and the OhioLINK ETD community. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Lawrence University, and her Master of Science degree in information with a specialization in library and information services from the University of Michigan.
Prior to OhioLINK, Flynn worked at ProQuest as a catalog librarian, cataloging eBooks for Safari Books Online. During her time there, Flynn served as co-chair of the American Library Association (ALA) Cataloging Norms Interest Group and Library Code Year Interest Group, planning sessions for ALA Midwinter and Annual Conferences, as well as an all-day hack-a-thon. Flynn has worked in libraries throughout undergraduate and graduate school, in technical services, circulation and bibliographic research.
Flynn has presented on consortial eResource cataloging at the ALAO Technical, Electronic, and Digital Services Interest Group (TEDSIG), the OhioLINK ETD Center and ETD Center Advisory Council at the Ohio Electronic Theses and Dissertations Association (OETDA) and the United States Electronic Theses and Dissertations Association (USETDA), and the use of ORCID identifiers and metadata harvesting in the ETD Center at Ohio Institutional Repositories (IR) Day. In 2014, Flynn was selected for OCLC’s Developer House and spent an intensive week hacking on their APIs with a handful of other librarians and information technologists.
